Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ginger Peterson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ginger, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
The best way of showing your customers you appreciate them is by doing a consistently great job for what they’ve contracted you to get done. Being able to meet deadlines and to take charge of the marketing program takes the pressure off of an owner. PCF always communicates to our clients what we’ve achieved according to the monthly budget we’ve outlined and we ensure we stay ahead of deadlines at all times and on top of new technology developments as well. When a client doesn’t like something PCF moves quickly to get it resolved to where the client is happy again. All of these things show customers you appreciate them including sending out a monthly invoice at the same time every month with the marketing budget that matches the billing statement allows a customer to be able to count on PCF. This is the best reward to get more customers (clients) is by simply doing as you say you’ll do marketing wise and getting the job done where it looks very professional and is created in a timely manner. Also very important is staying on the top of your game so that clients trust your recommendations of new ways they can succeed with additional marketing programs.
Ginger, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
PCF International Integrated Marketing & Technology turned 30 years old in 2026! (1996-2026). We are a full service marketing firm “Ad Agency” that specializes in Interactive Marketing (Digital Ads, Social Media, Website Development & Maintenance, Copywriting & Creative, Promotions & Events, Strategic Marketing Plans, Broadcast Production, Music Jingles, SEO, AI. We started as a “virtual” Ad Agency in Honolulu, Hawaii and we expanded to South Florida in 2015, and further expanded to West Florida in 2020. PCF has a very experienced global team which enables us to handle many different business brands successfully. PCF International is a Top Ranked Advertising Agency in the state of Florida and Hawaii.
How I first got started, was when I was in college in Hawaii I worked hard to get into Internships which one of them was at a local ABC TV Station in the NewsRoom as originally I thought I would want to work as a reporter or anchor woman. I also was a d.j. on a radio station at 4A in the morning while carrying 24 credits in college in the Communications field and a cocktail waitress where all the business people went until 2A in the morning which helped to pay for my apartment rental and college expenses. The 2 Internships were invaluable as they gave me “hands on experience” and I ended up landing a job when I graduated from college with a BA in Communications as a Marketing Assistant at the largest diamond retail chain in the Hawaiian Islands, Korea, Japan, and Guam. I had a really tough boss who would scream at me but I got the job done and within 1 year I was promoted to the Marketing Manager. From this job I then took the account to one of the largest advertising agencies in Honolulu, Hawaii. From this, I worked at another Ad Agency getting experience on large accounts including hotel chains, supermarkets, shopping centers, and retail accounts. I then became engaged however my husband to be had a law practice on the Big Island of Hawaii. So I quit my Ad Agency job to move to the Big Island and there were really no advertising jobs when I moved there. At the advice of my father he said “Why don’t you start your own advertising company since you already know how to do this and you can try to bring in clients.” And I thought about it for awhile and then I decided to proceed. I ended up contacting clients from a previous Ad Agency I’d worked at on Oahu to see if they’d be willing to work with me to handle their marketing and voila…I landed my first client and it grew from there so this would be one of my proudest moments was landing my first client when I was first beginning as a brand new business owner.
One of the questions I always get from a perspective new client is will the marketing my company is recommending they use help to increase their business revenue? PCF recommends a combination of Digital Ads with Ad Spend on Google, Meta, and Social Media on Facebook & Instagram, and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so that the business search engine rankings show up at the top, along with a updated Website that is easy to navigate and kept fully maintained. It is critical to provide a business with a marketing budget that will deliver the best results and then to stick to the budget as well as providing the client with monthly tracking (analytics) results so that we can determine what is working and what is not and then improve or tweak the marketing program where needed. Monthly billing also needs to match up with the designated client marketing budget. A Strategic Marketing Plan is critical towards helping a client to reach their business goals and also for the marketing firm to have a benchmark they must meet.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
PCF International utilizes the program Asana which we implement all PCF Clients into file folders and then create individual jobs required based on the marketing budget the client has for each job. This helps PCF Team Members to keep on track and to meet deadlines. I also have a mandatory once a week Google Meet conference call with all PCF Team Members that lasts 1 to 1.5 hours each week. We review all jobs in Asana which we have pulled up on a screen for our Google Meet call which helps to discuss jobs a particular PCF’er might have questions on or I can ask a PCF’er why they are late with a deadline for a job? All PCF Team Members know they need to have it together for this weekly call. It helps to build synergy amongst our Team as well. Additionally, I provide all PCF’ers a Holiday Bonus annually which they really seem to appreciate and I provide daily feedback (M-F) to PCF Team Members with specific jobs they are working on, complimenting them when they have done a job especially well. I think it is really important to acknowledge PCF’ers to PCF Clients as then it is not always the boss taking the credit but rather giving credit to the PCF’er that did all the work. I also never hesitate to give a PCF’er a day off if they come to me and they need this. I also provide a 2 week Holiday time off to everyone in the company to take off, rest, relax, and to come back refreshed which is a game changer as when you work at PCF you are well taken care of. All of these things help. Also, if a PCF’er is not doing a good job at something, it’s important as an owner or manager to speak with them to find out why they are having difficulty meeting the job assignment and to document by email solutions that were discussed. This helps a PCF’er to succeed and to improve. I also believe in assigning new work tasks to a PCF’er even if they don’t have experience doing a particular job as it’s important that they learn new things so that the job doesn’t get boring.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
